March 19, 2:00 p.m. – Rachel Schutz and Andrea Christie

What is QQ at the UU?

QQ stands for Quarantined Quartet! And they’re coming to us at the UUFSB to mark the final concert of Le Petit Salon on April 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

The Quarantined Quartet is a family guitar ensemble from Brooklyn, New York, made up of parents Elysa and Jason Hochman and their two sons, Joseph and Noah.

On March 21, 2020, during the first days of COVID lockdown, the family decided to call themselves the Quarantined Quartet and created an Instagram page to document their daily practice. What began as Practice Day 1 quickly became a lifelong commitment. Since that day, they have practiced together and posted a video every single day without missing one, a streak that now spans over six years and counting.

Through this daily ritual, the Quarantined Quartet built a global community, growing their page to over one million followers. What started as a simple practice log evolved into an international platform connecting audiences through music, consistency, and family. They have performed often on the Today Show and have a permanent spot at the Tavern on the Green in NYC on Sundays.

Long before becoming a global online ensemble, Elysa and Jason were already deeply rooted in music education. They are the founders and owners of the New York Guitar Academy, established in 2009, where they have trained thousands of students and built a community centered around musical excellence and lifelong learning.

Over time, the Quarantined Quartet developed a distinct sound blending Spanish classical, flamenco, and world music, alongside original compositions and creative arrangements. More than a performance group, the ensemble represents consistency, family, and the belief that music is a language best learned and lived together. Every performance is an invitation into a journey that began in lockdown and continues one day at a time.
