Le Petit Salon de Musique, one of Suffolk County’s most intimate classical music venues, will open its ninth season in a big way with a striking set of “Miniatures” by the contemporary composer, Richard Faith. The accomplished duo of oboist Terry Keevil and pianist Paolo Bartolani will also perform pieces by J.S. Bach, Benjamin Britten, Robert Schumann and others. In addition, Mr. Keevil will perform an original piece for the duduk, an ancient woodwind instrument.
Terry Keevil is a member of North Shore Pro Musica and has performed with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, and Choir of Sacred Music. His musical range includes operas, Bach cantatas, symphonies and chamber music works. He can be heard playing the duduk and English horn with David Darling and The Adagio Ensemble on the CD “In Tune,” released by The Relaxation Company, and the oboe and duduk with Hidden City on their CD, “Another Country.” Terry has also released a CD of original solo duduk music titled “Duduk Creations.” He leads musical improvisation workshops at SUNY Stony Brook and is the director of the Adult Chamber Music Program at Stony Brook.
In addition to being a stunning performer, pianist Paolo Bartolani is a musicologist and music manager, working in both classical and contemporary music. Born in Italy, he performs as a soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles in Europe and United States. He founded the Rites of Spring Music Fest on Long Island’s North Fork to promote classical and contemporary music, and to combine music, history and the natural environment.
