On Sunday, January 14, 2018 Le Petit Salon de Musique’s performance space will echo with great songs of Broadway’s Golden Age, sung by two of America’s favorite vocalists, Ron and Julie Anne Meixsell, accompanied by pianist Doris Anne McMullen. The program will also include opera arias, German Lieder songs, and 20th century art songs.
Each time these enthusiastic and accomplished performers grace Le Petit Salon’s stage, audiences leave with favorite melodies ringing in their heads and joy in their hearts. Ron and Julie Anne Meixsell have performed to rave reviews for more than twenty years, including concerts at The Bruno Walter Auditorium in Lincoln Center and three seasons with The Sound Symphony Summer Concert Series on Long Island. Bass Baritone Ron Meixsell is a multi-instrumentalist who in his early career played clarinet and saxophone with symphonies, concert bands, woodwind ensembles, Dixieland bands, jazz bands and even a polka band. Once his vocal career blossomed he became a sought-after multi-genre vocal soloist with opera companies and choral societies all over the country. Adam Horvath of Newsday said of him that “Baritone Ron Meixsell filled the hall with his rich, warm voice.” Julie Anne Meixsell, is a fabulous soprano whose voice has been featured as part of the Portraits in Motion television series. She was also featured soloist with the Long Island String Quartet’s performance of Il Tramonto by Respighi and released a solo album called Songs of Innocence – lullabies for us all. Pianist Doris Anne McMullen performs as soloist, duo-pianist, lecture recitalist, chamber musician and accompanist. She has performed with the Long Island Philharmonic and as concerto soloist with the Suffolk Symphony, Sound Symphony and West slip, BAFFA and Stony Brook University orchestras.
