Le Petit Salon de Musique presents The Parhelion Trio. Praised by The Strad Magazine for their "effervescent" playing, The Parhelion Trio is a New York City based, all-female ensemble dedicated to bringing virtuosic, robust, and impactful contemporary music to diverse audiences. For its Le Petit Salon performance, the trio will play an exhilarating program of 21st century works for flute, clarinet and piano, interspersed with beloved classics by Brahms and Debussy.
American clarinetist Ashleé Miller has been praised for her rich “color and imagination.” She was awarded the very first Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award and has appeared as a guest artist with the Elysium Ensemble and Alaria Trio at Carnegie Hall. As a member of Syzygy New Music Ensemble, hailed as “one of 2009 most promising groups” by Sequenza21, flutist Sarah Carrier has made numerous appearances on television and radio and performed in concert halls around the world. She won the National Flute Association Masterclass Competition in 2007. Pianist Andrea Christie is a versatile performing artist with a flair for late-romantic works and a passion for contemporary music. A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Christie has been playing piano since the age of four, and received her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from SUNY Stony Brook.
The Parhelion Trio was a semi-finalist in the inaugural M-Prize International Chamber Music Competition, the largest chamber competition in the world, and has premiered over 20 new works dedicated to, or written by, the trio.
“Some of the most exhilarating playing I’ve heard in years.” (Paul Schoenfeld, American Composer and Faculty at University of Michigan)
